Recycle Ink and Laser Cartridges

As a way to reduce waste going to landfills and to raise funds creatively, the Black River Action Team will recycle old cell phones and empty ink cartridges! BRAT participates in a few different programs which recycle empty inkjet and laser cartridges and old cell phones, and send the BRAT a little money in return. Funds go to defraying operating costs of the community-based watershed group, including the annual RiverSweep cleanup event, mapping and assessing the river and its tributaries, and upcoming educational adventures in the watershed.

The Black River Action Team has always found creative ways to generate needed funds for watershed projects. One of those ways is the FundingFactory® Recycling Program! The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for the group’s efforts.

How can you help? Instead of throwing away empty cartridges from your printer or fax machine, set them aside. The BRAT will arrange pickup for larger amounts. You can also drop off your cartridges at Radio Shack in the Springfield Shopping Plaza. Every cartridge helps!

Last year alone, more than 300 million cartridges were thrown away. The BRAT is alleviating the volume of waste that goes into landfills, while collecting the funds needed to make the river team run smoothly. Your help is vital to the BRAT’s fundraising success.

Almost every brand of cartridge is acceptable through one of the programs, so collect them in a bag or box and contact Kelly Stettner, BRAT, 45 Coolidge Road, Springfield VT 05156 or by email at blackrivercleanup@yahoo.com or by phone, 802-885-1533 to arrange pickup or dropoff.
